Intergeneration Month: September 2022

The Intergenerational Foundation launched Intergeneration Month with the goal to connect generations and encourage those from varying age groups to impart wisdom and learn from one another. The celebration of Intergeneration Month started out as a single day, recognized on the first Sunday of October. In 2012, Intergeneration Day was expanded to an entire month, now celebrated in September. You can commemorate this month by joining a Big Brothers/Big Sisters program, volunteering at a retirement home, or finding a shared hobby with a grandparent or grandchild.

Other notable celebrations in September include…

-Labor Day

-9/11 Remembrance

-Self-Care Awareness Month

-Suicide Awareness Month

September comes from the Latin word “Septum”, meaning seven, as it was the seventh month of the year on the Roman calendar.
