Leanna May Franklin, MA, AAC, CIHC, CDP
Leanna May Franklin serves as Washington State Policy Director for the National Shattering Silence Coalition. A Certified In-Home Care Clinician trained in trauma-informed approaches including EMDR,
CBT, DBT, and family systems therapy, Franklin co-founded a holistic mental health clinic after her own son experienced a psychotic break in late adolescence. Her advocacy work bridges clinical care,
community support, and policy reform, guided by a principle she returns to often: compassion over judgment, connection over isolation, and treatment over punishment. Leanna then founded Voices for Change connecting providers, behavioral health agencies and policy makers to have the same conversation and provide educational resources and guidance to families navigating the system.

NSSC is a nonpartisan alliance of family members, individuals with lived experience, clinical professionals, and advocates working to replace what the coalition calls America's Standard of Neglect
with a National Standard of Care for people living with severe mental illness. Organizing through a national network of state policy directors, NSSC combines lived experience, family perspective, clinical expertise, and evidence-based data to advance legislative reform and direct caregiver support. The coalition publishes a growing library of state-specific navigation guides and shorter topic guides - covering psychosis, crisis response, caregiving, privacy law, and advocacy - available at nsscoalition.org.
