Human Rights, how we can stand up for justice.

The month of December is known as International Human Rights Awareness Month. 2022 will be the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, an international document stating the fundamental rights and freedoms to which all human beings are entitled. This month we are encouraged to come together and stand up for equality, justice, and the dignity of all humans. Spread the word about the importance of treating everyone around us with respect and kindness no matter their age, gender, race, political views, or social status. Read more about how you can get involved in this year’s campaign for Human Rights.

Other notable celebrations in the month of December include…

  • Christmas, December 25th
  • Hanukkah, begins December 18th
  • Kwanzaa, begins December 26th

December got its name from the Latin word “decem” meaning “ten” because it was originally the tenth month of the year in the Roman calendar.
