About This Provider

Lumina Hospice & Palliative Care, founded as Benton Hospice Service in 1980, has
a long history as the leading source for end-of-life care in Oregon's
Mid-Willamette Valley. From our hospice and palliative care services to our
extensive grief and caregiver support programs, we are here for you. As your
local nonprofit hospice, your care -not profit- is our top priority. Hospice is
a comprehensive approach to end-of-life care that provides emotional, spiritual,
physical, and psychological support tailored to each patient’s needs. This
allows patients and loved ones to focus on the things most important to them,
while providing peace of mind that help is always available. The goals of both
hospice and palliative care are very similar: to relieve symptoms of a serious
illness, provide comfort from pain, and improve quality of life for the patient
and family. Lumina is your local nonprofit hospice serving all of Linn County
and Benton County, and parts of Marion County, Polk County, and Lane County.

Hospice

Hospice care treats the person and symptoms of the disease, rather than treating the disease itself. A team of professionals work together to manage symptoms so that a person’s last days may be spent with dignity and quality, surrounded by their loved ones. Hospice care is also family-centered – it includes the patient and the family in making decisions. Hospice is a covered benefit by Medicare and other insurances.
